EXCLUSIVE: Late Alaafin Planned to Confer Mysterious Title on Sunday Igboho Before the Raid, Made Incantations for Minutes— Sheikh Akeugbagold

A renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Taofeek Akeugbagold, has disclosed that the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, had planned to confer the rare chieftaincy title of Loogun Akirifijalo on Yoruba rights activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho before the raid on his house.
Akeugbagold made the disclosure during a courtesy visit to Igboho at his Soka residence in Ibadan.
According to the scholar, the late Alaafin had selected the title because of its uniqueness, noting that only one person had ever been installed with the Loogun Akirifijalo title in Oyo-Ile.
He added that the monarch made incantations over the title before approving it.
He further revealed that a letter for the conferment of the title had already been printed on the directive of the Alaafin, but the process was suspended following the joint security operation at Igboho’s residence.
Akeugbagold thanked God for Igboho’s safety during the incident and for the subsequent removal of his name from the wanted list.
He also advised Igboho to be cautious in his utterances and to keep certain matters private.
Recall that Sunday Igboho was declared wanted during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari over allegations of stockpiling arms and ammunition.
He returned to Nigeria last week after interventions by traditional rulers, including the Ooni of Ife and the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
In a statement after his return, Igboho expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for granting him the opportunity to return to the country.
He also pledged to collaborate with the Federal Government to address insecurity and promote peace and socioeconomic development, particularly in the South-West.
Igboho also commended the governors of the South-West states for their support and singled out Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for his contributions to the development of the state.
