Over One Thousand Generators Resume Full Duty As Power Outage Hits Felele Estate, Challenge, Odò Ona, 20 Other Communities in Ibadan
A total of 23 communities across Ibadan have been affected by a power outage following a fault on a major power transformer, according to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).
The outage was formally announced in a public notice issued by the company on January 19, 2026.
IBEDC explained that the disruption is linked to a technical fault on one of its major transformers, which has led to the shutdown of several feeders within the network.
Feeders affected by the outage include Lina, Best Oil, Frigoglass, Backhorse, Altak, Aramed, BAT/New Age, Eagle, Challenge, Odò Ona, Boluwaji, Soka, Podo (11kV), and ROM (33kV), impacting power supply across wide sections of the city.
As a result, 23 communities will experience power interruption.
These communities are Felele Estate, Challenge, Odò Ona, Odò Ona Kékéré, Ologede, Alomaja, Arapaja, Bare, Oloola, Alata, Ìdì Ayùnré, Soka, Ido Mango, Boluwaji, Sanyo, Podo, Asipa, Oleyo, Ayegun, Idi Oya, Tipper Garage, Eyini, and Adelabu Market.
Several businesses and institutions within these areas have also been affected by the interruption.
In addition to residential communities, the outage has impacted key facilities and organizations such as Eagle Flour Company, Frigoglass Company, Bev Pack Company, Lina Oil Company, Fresh FM Station, Splash FM, and the Genesis Event Center.
These disruptions have raised concerns about economic activities and daily operations within the affected zones.
IBEDC assured customers that its technical team is actively working to resolve the fault and restore power supply as soon as possible.
The company apologized for the inconvenience caused and urged residents of the 23 affected communities to remain patient while repair works continue.
