‎Governor Makinde Reaffirms Support for Armed Forces on Remembrance Day, Pledges Government’s Support to Families of Oloka Attack Victims



‎Oyo State Governor, engine Seyi Makinde has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Armed Forces of Nigeria in the fight against insecurity, while expressing deep appreciation to officers and men of the military for their dedication and service to the nation.

‎Governor Makinde made the pledge when led top government officials, security chiefs, and residents to the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, on Thursday to pay tribute to members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, on the celebration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

‎The governor described Nigeria’s current security situation as challenging, noting that the military is often required to do more with limited resources while confronting multiple security threats nationwide.

‎The governor also used the occasion to commiserate with the families of National Park guards who recently lost their lives in the line of duty during an attack by bandits in Oloka, Orire Local Government Area and pledged that the Oyo State Government would ensure the affected families are adequately cared for.

‎In his address, the Interim Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Oyo State Command, Julius Ogunkojo, called on governments at all levels to take full responsibility for the welfare of families left behind by fallen heroes.

‎He also commended Governor Makinde for his consistent support to the Nigerian Legion in Oyo State and appealed for increased assistance to further strengthen their operations.

‎As wreaths were laid and memories shared, the observance of Armed Forces Remembrance Day once again renewed national respect for service and sacrifice.

‎It also strengthened unity, and reinforced hope that the legacy of bravery displayed by Nigeria’s armed forces will continue to guide the nation toward a more secure and peaceful future.
