‎The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Oyo State Office, has declared that only voters with Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will be allowed to vote in the 2027 General Elections.

‎The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Oyo State, Professor Rahmon Tella, made this known during a chat with journalists in Ibadan.

‎Speaking through the Head of Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Civil Society Liaison, Alhaji Taliatu Adeagbo, the REC stated that voters without PVCs will not be allowed to vote, even if their names and photographs appear on the INEC voter register.

‎Professor Tella urged residents of Oyo State to take part in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and resolve any issues related to their PVCs.

‎He also encouraged citizens who have just turned 18 to register during the second phase of the CVR exercise.

‎Meanwhile, the Chairman of INEC, Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN), has assured Nigerians that the 2027 General Elections will be free, fair, transparent and technology-driven.

‎Speaking at the 2026 INEC Induction and Strategic Retreat in Lagos, Amupitan said the Commission would not tolerate misconduct and is preparing for a rapidly evolving electoral process.

‎To ensure a smooth election without financial challenges, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has allocated the sum of ₦1.01 trillion to INEC ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
