Breaking: Not Every Word Written in the Bible is The Word of God; Satan, Demons Spoke Too _ Apostle Selman
A sermon by Nigerian preacher, Apostle Joshua Selman is generating widespread discussion across Christian communities, after comments he made about how believers should understand the Bible.
In the message, Apostle Selman stated that not every word recorded in the Bible should automatically be interpreted as “the Word of God.”
He explained that while the Bible is divinely inspired, it contains statements from multiple sources including God, prophets, unbelievers, demons, and even Satan all of which are faithfully recorded in Scripture.
According to Selman, discernment is required to distinguish between words that merely appear in the Bible and those that truly convey God’s life-giving message.
He emphasized that only words that carry “spirit and life,” as guided by the Holy Spirit, should be received as God’s Word in application.
The comments quickly drew mixed reactions online. Some critics accused the preacher of undermining the authority of Scripture, warning that such teachings could confuse believers.
Others came to his defense, arguing that Selman was highlighting a well-established theological principle that Scripture records historical dialogue and events, not all of which represent God’s will or commands.
Supporters point to biblical examples such as Satan’s words to Jesus or the speeches of Job’s friends, which are included in Scripture but later corrected or rebuked by God.
Apostle Selman has not issued a separate clarification, but followers note that he has consistently affirmed the Bible as inspired, stressing the importance of proper interpretation through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
As the debate continues, church leaders are encouraging believers to study Scripture carefully, seek spiritual discernment, and engage respectfully in theological discussions.
