Olubadan Seeks Federal Government’s Intervention as Ecological Threats Loom in Ibadan
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Dr George Akume, in Abuja, to seek urgent federal intervention in addressing the growing ecological challenges confronting parts of Ibadan metropolis.
During the visit, Oba Ladoja expressed deep concern over the escalating environmental degradation and erosion problems threatening lives, property, and infrastructure across several communities in Ibadan.
He appealed to the Federal Government to provide swift and sustainable solutions to mitigate the impact of these ecological hazards.
In his response, Dr Akume described the Olubadan as a true leader of the people, renowned for his unwavering commitment to the welfare and well-being of the masses.
He commended the monarch’s dedication and advocacy, noting that his visit underscored his passion for the development and safety of Ibadanland.
The SGF stated that he was not surprised by Oba Ladoja’s personal intervention, having long recognized his consistent efforts in championing the interests of ordinary citizens.
He then assured the royal father that the Federal Government would take all necessary steps to address the ecological concerns raised.
Oba Ladoja was accompanied on the visit by Senator Fatai Buhari and Senator Sharafadeen Alli, who also emphasized the urgency of federal action to avert further environmental damage in the ancient city.
