Final Written Addresses‎: Court Adjourns I.A. COM Nigeria Ltd vs Satguru Maharaj Ji Land Dispute to February 18

‎An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has adjourned proceedings in a land dispute suit between I.A. COM Nigeria Ltd and Satguru Maharaj Ji until February 18, 2026.

‎The case, with suit number I/786/2022, came up on Monday before Justice Muraina Rasak at Court 19, Iyaganku, Ibadan.

‎During the hearing, counsel to the plaintiff, Barrister Fredrick Oladapo, questioned a witness from the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Adewumi Adeyemo, of the Department of Planning, Research and Statistics.

‎Oladapo asked whether there were any other documents in the ministry’s register apart from those filed by I.A. COM Nigeria Ltd. Adeyemo responded in the negative.

‎Barrister Oladapo further asked whether any objections were raised following the public advertisement of the land in question. The witness confirmed that no objections were recorded.

‎Also speaking in court, counsel to the second to fourth defendants, Barrister Busari, equally examined the witness on documents tendered on behalf of the Oyo State Governor, the Commissioner for Justice, and the Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, to which the witness responded accordingly.

‎Addressing the court, counsel to Satguru Maharaj Ji, Barrister Lowo Obisesan, presented documents he claimed validated that the disputed land belongs to Maharaj Ji.

‎The witness examined the documents one after the other and confirmed that the stamps and other features of authentication were indeed issued by the Ministry.

‎Following this confirmation, Barrister Obisesan questioned why the Ministry proceeded to register the same land in the name of another company after it had already been duly registered to Satguru Maharaj Ji by the ministry.

‎In response, the witness stated that his department was not responsible for such matters, explaining that his department only handles assignments after a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) has been issued and that he was unaware of what transpired prior to that stage.

‎After listening to submissions from counsel to the claimant, counsel to the first defendant, and lawyer representing the second to fourth defendants, Justice Muraina Rasak adjourned the case to February 18, 2026, for the adoption of final written addresses by all parties.

‎Speaking on the matter, Satguru Maharaj Ji stated that all documents proving his ownership of the land remain intact, stressing that the land had been lawfully in his possession for many years before land grabbers deceived and purportedly sold it to the company involved in the dispute.

‎He recalled that large numbers of suspected land grabbers allegedly invaded the land belonging to him at Alaadorin village, along the Ibadan–Lagos Expressway, some years ago, an incident that reportedly disrupted activities on the land and affected his peace-loving devotees.

‎Satguru Maharaj Ji added that since the incident, the matter has remained before the court, with a quest not only to establish the rightful ownership of the land but also to seek justice and proper legal redress over the disputed property.
