No More Textbooks Extortion: Federal Government Inaugurates Committee to Strengthen Textbook Quality, Approval Process
Less than 24 hours after NewsRegister reported calls from education stakeholders, asking government to swiftly Implement New Policy on Reusable Textbooks, the Federal Government has inaugurated a committee to improve the quality, assessment, and approval of textbooks used in Nigerian schools.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, while inaugurating the committee, said the initiative will ensure curriculum-aligned, high-quality learning materials and eliminate unnecessary cosmetic revisions that burden parents.
According to him, the committee will review approval frameworks, set quality benchmarks, and address pricing transparency and edition control.
He noted that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s education reform agenda to improve learning outcomes nationwide.
