“I Will Reclaim My Mandate Through Legal Means” — Gbolagade Assures Oluyole Constituents
Hon. (Mogaji) Gbolagade Abiodun, winner of the All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election for Oluyole Federal Constituency, has assured constituents that he will reclaim what he described as his “stolen mandate” through the courts.
Gbolagade, who polled a wide margin 2 ,315 votes to defeat the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, who scored 33 votes , in the party primary held on the 16th may 2026, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Ibadan over the weekend.
The grassroots politician said he has already filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Ibadan, to challenge the reversal of his victory, expressing confidence that justice will prevail.
“I urge our people to remain calm and undaunted. Our mandate was freely given by party members, and by God’s grace and the rule of law, we will reclaim it,” he said.
Gbolagade said his decision to contest was driven by the need to bring real development and youth-focused representation to Oluyole, which he noted has suffered from poor infrastructure and weak legislative lobbying.
“It is disheartening to see the current state of infrastructure in Oluyole. This shows that those representing us have not done enough to attract federal presence, projects, and opportunities to our people,” he stated.
“Being in the House of Representatives is not just about occupying a seat. It is about what you do with the mandate. What laws are you sponsoring? What projects are you attracting? What voice do you have for your people?”
The aspirant emphasized that his years of grassroots engagement give him a clear understanding of the needs of Oluyole residents.
“Oluyole is blessed with talent, enterprise, and hardworking people. What we lack is purposeful leadership and access to opportunity,” Gbolagade added.
“My focus will be on youth empowerment, skills development, education support, and attracting federal projects that will create jobs and improve livelihoods. We will also work to steer our youths away from negative influences and toward productive ventures.”
He assured constituents that if given the opportunity, his tenure will surpass previous records in terms of impact, accessibility, and delivery.
“Oluyole deserves better. I have the experience, the network, and the commitment to deliver it. I will do it better than anyone who has been there before,” he concluded.
