Oyo Assembly Passes Anti-Corruption Agency Amendment Bill, Begins Seven-Week Recess
The Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed the Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (Amendment) Bill, 2026 into law, a move aimed at strengthening the legal and operational framework of the state’s anti-corruption agency.
The amendment bill was passed following the presentation and clause-by-clause consideration of the report of the House Committee on Public Petitions, Justice and Judiciary, chaired by Honorable Abideen Ogundare, who represents Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere State Constituency.
After adopting the committee’s recommendations, lawmakers resolved into the Committee of the Whole House and unanimously approved the bill during its third reading.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, said the amendment would strengthen the anti-corruption agency as part of efforts to deepen transparency, accountability and good governance in Oyo State.
At the close of plenary, the House announced the commencement of its annual recess, which will run from July 1 to August 18, 2026, with lawmakers expected to resume legislative activities after the break.
