Ghanaian Lawyer Dies After Collapsing While Celebrating World Cup Victory

A 26-year-old Ghanaian lawyer, Sarah Araba Tettey, has reportedly died after collapsing while celebrating Ghana’s victory over Panama at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

According to Ghanaian media outlet Citi Newsroom, the tragic incident occurred on Wednesday at Standard Hostel, a private residence in Bomso, near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Tettey, an alumna of KNUST’s Faculty of Law, was said to have been watching the match alongside friends when she suddenly collapsed during post-match celebrations following Ghana’s win.

She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel reportedly made efforts to revive her. However, she was later pronounced dead.

The report noted that Tettey had only recently been called to the Ghana Bar earlier this year and was practising with O & A Legal Consult, where she was regarded as a promising young legal professional.

Her sudden death has triggered an outpouring of grief across social media, with friends, colleagues, and former classmates paying tribute to her and mourning the loss of a vibrant young lawyer whose career was just beginning.

As of the time of filing this report, Tettey’s family had not issued an official statement regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.

Her body has reportedly been deposited in a mortuary pending further investigations and funeral arrangements.

The exact cause of death remains unknown, as neither her family nor medical authorities have officially confirmed what led to the fatal collapse.
