Oriire Abduction: Maharaj Ji Urges Makinde to Adopt Non-Kinetic Measures, Calls for Level Playing Field Ahead 2027 Elections
Founder of the One Love Family and Living Perfect Master, Satguru Maharaj Ji, has appealed to Oyo State Governor, engineer Seyi Makinde, to prioritise non-kinetic measures in efforts to secure the release of teachers and pupils abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, while also calling on political leaders to ensure a level playing field ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Maharaj Ji expressed concern over the continued captivity of the abducted victims, urging the Oyo State Government and security agencies to deploy intelligence-driven strategies, community engagement and other traditional and local mechanisms capable of facilitating the safe return of the schoolchildren and teachers.
The spiritual leader commended Governor Makinde for personally visiting the affected communities and meeting with the families of the victims, describing the gesture as a demonstration of compassion and responsive leadership.
He, however, stressed that every effort should be geared towards ensuring the abductees return home unharmed.
”We appreciate Governor Makinde’s commitment to the rescue of the victims and his reassurance to their families. At this sensitive moment, every strategic option that can guarantee the safe return of these innocent children and their teachers should be explored,” Maharaj Ji stated.
Beyond the security challenge, Maharaj Ji also urged political actors across the country to conduct themselves responsibly as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
He noted that political competition should be based on ideas, programmes and leadership capacity rather than divisive rhetoric or actions capable of undermining democratic stability.
According to him, all political parties and aspirants, should be given equal opportunities to canvass support from Nigerians without intimidation, manipulation or undue advantage.
”The nation is entering a critical political season. There must be a level playing field for all contestants. Democracy flourishes when candidates are allowed to compete freely based on their vision, competence and track record. The electorate should be the ultimate judge,” he said.
Maharaj Ji further cautioned against inflammatory political statements capable of escalating tensions, noting that the country’s current security and economic challenges require leaders to promote unity and constructive engagement rather than deepen existing divisions.
He maintained that the ongoing efforts to rescue the Oriire victims should serve as a reminder that governance must remain focused on the protection of lives and the welfare of citizens.
According to him, national development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, justice and political inclusiveness.
The One Love Family founder therefore called on security agencies, community leaders and political stakeholders to work together in the interest of national stability, expressing hope that the abducted teachers and pupils would soon regain their freedom while Nigeria continues on the path of democratic consolidation ahead of the 2027 elections
