Just In: President Tinubu Intensifies Plans to Secure Release of Abducted Oyo Pupils, Teachers; Dispatches High-Powered Delegation to Oriire
A high-powered delegation dispatched by President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, as part of efforts to assess the security situation and coordinate responses to the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.
The delegation is expected to proceed to Esiele and Yawota communities, where armed men reportedly invaded three schools and abducted about pupils and teachers in a brazen attack that has sparked widespread concern across the state and beyond.
Members of the presidential team include the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu; the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa; the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe; and the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare.
The visit underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to securing the safe release of the victims and strengthening security measures in affected communities.
The abduction has drawn condemnation from stakeholders, including education groups, community leaders, and civil society organisations, who have called for swift action to rescue those in captivity.
