2027: APC Has Totally Lost Its Bearing, Vision – Former Ekiti Gov, Fayemi
Former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost its ideological direction and abandoned the vision of its founding fathers.
Fayemi made the remarks on Thursday during an appearance on State Affairs, a podcast hosted by Edmund Obilo, while speaking on the ongoing primary elections within the party.
According to the former governor, internal democracy and intellectual engagement have diminished within the APC, leading to growing divisions and confusion in the party.
He noted that the lack of healthy debate among party members reflects a deeper crisis within the ruling party, adding that the APC has drifted away from the ideals upon which it was founded.
Fayemi also criticised the growing trend of politicians seeking endorsement and consensus arrangements from the Presidency, warning that the inability of party stakeholders to genuinely agree on candidates signals internal implosion rather than unity.
He recalled raising similar concerns during the South-West APC conference in Lagos, where he said he openly told party leaders that the APC was no longer operating in line with its original vision.
