Videos: “Gbolagade Abiodun is Our Consensus Candidate ” – Oluyole APC Members Tell Oyo APC Leaders Amid Protest Over Alleged Imposition of Sadipe
Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oluyole Federal Constituency of Oyo State on Thursday, trooped out in their numbers to protest an alleged imposition of a candidate for the forthcoming house of reps primary election in the state.
The protesting APC members were at the Oke Ado party’s state secretariat in Ibadan to register their grievances over the issue.
They accused party leaders in the state of attempting to impose the current house of reps member Tolulope Akande Sadipe despite her disdain and hatred for the people of the Constituency
Addressing journalists during the protest, some of the protesters maintained that the entire oluyole Constituency are asking for “Gbolagade Abiodun” who has been with them all through the years even when Sadipe abandoned them.
They expressed surprise over reports that Sadipe who is no longer known to the people of the area, and who had abandoned them and is shying away from her legislative responsibility to the people is now the choice of few leaders in the state without recourse to the agitation of majority of party members.
They stressed that while members remained loyal to the party’s leadership, they would only accept the candidate of the people and not someone handpicked by Abuja.
They added that the aspirants should all go through the process of election as it is not a do-or-die affair.
“We will all accept the result of a free, fair, and credible election, but not that of an individual,” he stated.
The protesters carried placards with various inscriptions, calling on the party leadership to uphold internal democracy and respect the choice of the people.
