Wike Blasts Makinde Over PDP-APM Alliance, Labels Move Fraudulent; Says Seyi Presidential Ambition Dead on Arrival

‎The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has lashed out at governor Seyi Makinde over what he described as a “fraudulent” political alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), insisting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) cannot recognise such an arrangement.

‎Wike’s reaction followed comments linked to Governor Makinde’s alleged presidential ambition, further exposing the widening cracks within the opposition PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.

‎According to the former Rivers State governor, there is no officially recognised coalition known as “PDP-APM,” stressing that the idea exists only in Makinde’s imagination.

‎“INEC knows there’s nothing called PDP-APM. It’s the imagination of Governor Makinde,” Wike said.

‎He also referenced the recent political move by Bala Mohammed to the APM, noting that the Bauchi governor never described it as a coalition with the PDP.

‎“Governor Bala went to APM and didn’t say anything like PDP-APM,” he added.

‎The FCT minister further said Makinde had joined the APM to pursue a presidential ambition he described as “dead on arrival.”

‎“Instead of Makinde to come out and say that he has joined APM to actualise his presidential ambition, which is dead on arrival, we told him he cannot fly the presidential flag under the PDP,” Wike stated.

‎The latest war of words underscores the growing internal divisions within the PDP as key party figures continue to battle over leadership, alliances, and the party’s future direction.
