Atiku, Amaechi, Hayatu Deen Pick ADC’s #90 Million Presidential Forms
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, have obtained the African Democratic Congress’ expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Another aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu Deen, has also secured the party’s nomination form, pledging to tackle insecurity, unemployment, and the rising cost of living if elected.
The National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, confirmed the development to Saturday PUNCH on Friday.
“Yes, the three of them — Atiku, Amaechi, and Hayatu Deen — have obtained the forms,” Abdullahi stated.
The ADC presidential nomination form is priced at N90 million.
Hayatu Deen formally received his form from the party’s National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, on Friday. Speaking shortly after, he stressed that the 2027 election should focus on restoring economic stability and strengthening national security.
According to him, many Nigerians are struggling with worsening hardship and insecurity across the country.
“Nigerians are tired of living in fear. They are tired of watching businesses struggle, jobs disappear, and the cost of basic necessities rise beyond what ordinary people can afford,” he said.
He added that the forthcoming election must move beyond “politics as usual” and concentrate on rebuilding the economy, creating jobs, and improving living conditions.
“We cannot build prosperity in an atmosphere of fear and instability. Security is the foundation upon which every strong economy is built,” Hayatu Deen added.
The ADC fixed May 6 to May 13 for the sale of its expression of interest and nomination forms.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while governorship and state House of Assembly elections will hold on February 6, 2027.
INEC also announced that party primaries and the resolution of related disputes will take place between April 23 and May 30, 2026.
According to the commission, campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections will commence on August 19, 2026, while campaigns for governorship and state assembly elections will begin on September 9, 2026.
