FG Approves New Salary Structure for NiMet Staff, Effective June 2026
The Federal Government has approved a new consolidated salary structure for staff of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), alongside an updated condition of service.
The approval was conveyed in an official letter issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and addressed to the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.
Dated April 29, 2026, and signed by Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, Permanent Secretary, General Services, on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the directive confirmed that the new salary structure will take effect from June 1, 2026.
“I am directed to convey that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has approved the recommended consolidated salary structure for NiMet with an effective date of June 1, 2026,” the letter stated.
The document, referenced No. 58957/S.2/T1/40 and titled “Re-Request for Salary Relativity Implementation in the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet),” also noted that the approval follows an earlier request from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission dated March 23, 2026.
The development marks a formal adjustment in the remuneration framework for NiMet staff, with implementation scheduled to commence in June 2026.
