‎AHOY Holds Flagship Outreach in Akanran, Empowers Over 250 Residents with Food Items, Health Education & Estate Management Training

‎The Association of Humble and Obedient Youths (AHOY) has carried out a major community outreach in Akanran Village, combining food distribution, health education, and estate management training for about 250 residents in a flagship humanitarian programme held at the palace of the traditional ruler.

‎The event took place at the palace of the Alakanran of Akanran, HRH Oba Yekini Ogunlabi Obisesan Akinaojo I.

‎Residents received staple food items including rice, garri, and other essentials as part of efforts to support vulnerable households in the community.

‎Organisers said the initiative reflects the association’s commitment to humanitarian service, youth development, and social cohesion.

‎Speaking during the outreach, Yusuf Ajibola Idris, one of the association’s representatives, said AHOY is dedicated to community development, unity, and social progress.

‎“Our association is focused on helping society grow at large. We support the needy, stand against tribalism, and promote humanistic ideals. We aim to educate, enlighten, and help people grow together,” he said.

‎He added that the organisation’s long-term objectives include improving public understanding of health, finance, and civic responsibility, while also promoting unity and reducing poverty.

‎The association was also represented by Barrister Uzoma Okoye, the National Legal Advisor, who outlined AHOY’s legal and humanitarian interventions.

‎Barrister Okoye explained that the association provides free legal assistance to underserved individuals, including support in dispute resolution and access to justice.

‎He also highlighted prison outreach initiatives aimed at assisting inmates with legal guidance and rehabilitation support.

‎Following the food distribution exercise, participants proceeded to Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort for a series of empowerment lectures on health and professional development.

‎A medical lecture on cancer awareness and prevention was delivered by Dr. Daluchukwu Obi of the Radiation Oncology Department, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. The session focused on early detection, prevention strategies, and general wellness education for men and women.

‎The programme also featured a training session on estate management facilitated by Mr. Akintunde Adegbite. He spoke on property valuation, project management, rental systems, and property sales, aimed at equipping participants with practical real estate knowledge.

‎Following the programme, participants expressed deep appreciation to AHOY for the multi-dimensional intervention, describing the food distribution as a timely relief that addressed urgent household needs.

‎Many beneficiaries noted that the gesture brought significant relief amid rising economic challenges, and they prayed for the continuation of such outreach programmes.

‎Participants at the health education segment also commended the organisers for including medical awareness in the outreach, describing the cancer lecture as highly informative and life-changing.

‎They said the session had improved their understanding of early detection and prevention, and urged that more health sensitisation programmes be extended to rural communities.

‎Similarly, attendees of the estate management training praised the association for introducing practical skill-based learning into the outreach.

‎They noted that the session provided valuable insights into property management and real estate opportunities, adding that such knowledge could help many youths become financially independent.

‎The association also highlighted its wider humanitarian interventions, including hospital visits, blood donation drives, and free legal aid services.

‎The outreach received commendation from community representatives, including Chief Sanusi Olaseni, Moye Balogun of Alakanran, who spoke on behalf of the palace. He described the initiative as a meaningful effort toward poverty alleviation and community support.

‎The programme forms part of AHOY’s annual convergence, which combines humanitarian aid with education and professional empowerment across communities.
