Just In: Obi, Makinde Hold Strategic Talks on 2027 Elections in Ibadan, Call for Inclusive, Productive Nigeria
Former Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has called for a renewed national focus on building a more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections.
Obi made this known during a visit to Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde on Tuesday, where he said discussions centred on the need for stronger collaboration and coalition-building ahead of the 2027 general elections, as well as broader efforts aimed at improving the wellbeing of Nigerians.
He noted that the consultations were geared towards building a Nigeria where opportunity is not determined by background, but by merit and determination.
He further expressed optimism that with greater unity and inclusiveness, Nigerians can look forward to a more secure, progressive, and prosperous nation where equal opportunity is guaranteed for all.
Before the closed-door meeting, Governor Seyi Makinde warmly received the former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, at the Government House in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Both leaders briefly acknowledged Stakeholders present and members of the press before proceeding into private discussions, signaling a shared commitment to dialogue and collaboration on issues of national importance.
