Jimoh-Orankan Gains Momentum in Oyo Central Senatorial District as ACCORD Rallies Strength in Akinyele Ahead 2027 Elections
Ambassador Shakirullah Jimoh-Orankan, the ACCORD Party’s Oyo Central Senatorial hopeful, emerged as one of the major highlights of the enlarged stakeholders’ meeting of the party in Akinyele Local Government Area.
The meeting, held at Oja’gbe in Moniya, was convened to ratify the party’s local government executives and strengthen unity among members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ambassador Orankan made a grand entrance into the venue at the same time as the party’s governorship hopeful, Alhaji (Dr) Oriyomi Hamzat. Both leaders were received by enthusiastic supporters carrying colourful placards and posters, while music, dancing and jubilation filled the atmosphere.
Orankan was ushered to the VIP section, where he sat beside Dr Oriyomi Hamzat alongside members of the State Working Committee led by the ACCORD State Chairman, Prince Kolade Ojo, and the National Secretary, Hon. (Dr) Adebukola Abiola Ajaja.
When it was time to honour the party leadership, Ambassador Orankan arrived with what many described as one of the most vibrant support groups at the event. Members of the Orankan Support Group (OSG), drawn from various local government areas within Oyo Central Senatorial District, marched in an organised procession to the podium, attracting admiration from party faithful and guests.
Their impressive outing sent a clear signal that Orankan remains determined and prepared for the 2027 senatorial race, with a vision centred on responsive, responsible and people-oriented representation at the Red Chamber.
Also noticeable at the venue were Orankan’s posters and billboards strategically positioned around the meeting ground, particularly within the popular Oja’gbe Market, where they became a major talking point among party members and residents.
Ambassador Orankan received warm gestures of support from top party leaders, including Dr Ajaja, Prince Kolade Ojo, Hon. Olayinka Dairo and other executives.
As part of activities at the event, Orankan was interviewed by the Oriyomi Hamzat Media Crew, where he unveiled aspects of his vision for the people of Oyo Central. He stated that the growing membership of ACCORD was a strong indication that the party was on course for victory in future elections.
He urged members to remain peaceful, intensify mobilisation efforts and encourage more people to join the party for a landslide victory in 2027.
Earlier, party chieftain Dr Mustafa Adegboyega Lateef welcomed attendees and commended Dr Ajaja for sustaining the party structure while supporting the governorship aspiration of Dr Oriyomi Hamzat. He prayed for ACCORD’s victory in Oyo State and success in producing lawmakers at both the state and national levels.
In his remarks, the ACCORD State Secretary, Hon. Olayinka Dairo, described Akinyele as a local government where political history would be made in 2027.
State Chairman Prince Kolade Ojo, while receiving defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said Akinyele would deliver massive votes for ACCORD. He described the party as one that offers equal opportunities to all members without discrimination.
He also urged aspirants to continue mobilising support and encourage residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) were equally welcomed into the party.
Speaking at the gathering, the ACCORD governorship hopeful, Alhaji (Dr) Oriyomi Hamzat, declared that opposition parties were in disarray and invited more people to join what he described as the incoming administration in Oyo State.
He announced that the list of local government executives had been ratified and forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stressing that ACCORD remained united and free of factions.
Hamzat appealed to all aspirants to support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate, assuring that loyal members would be rewarded with appointments in government.
In his closing remarks, the National Secretary, Hon. (Dr) Adebukola Abiola Ajaja, thanked God for the successful meeting, praised the peaceful conduct of supporters and declared that Oriyomi Hamzat was divinely destined to govern Oyo State.
The next enlarged ACCORD stakeholders’ meeting is scheduled to hold in Oluyole Local Government on Friday, April 24, 2026.
