Terrorists Attack Military Base in Kwara, Kill Three Soldiers
Three soldiers of the Nigerian Army were killed in the early hours of Monday after suspected terrorists attacked a military base in Kemanji community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday evening, expressing condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers.

According to the governor, the attack occurred around 3 a.m., but troops stationed at the base successfully repelled the assailants.

“Our gallant soldiers courageously beat back a terrorist attack on their position in Kemanji, Kaiama. Many of the terrorists were neutralised by the brave troops,” he said.

He added that the soldiers prevented the attackers from gaining access to the community and foiled what appeared to be a planned kidnapping operation.

“Our brave men not only repelled the terrorists and prevented them from accessing the community, but they also ensured that no one was kidnapped as the terrorists had intended,” the governor stated.

AbdulRazaq, however, disclosed that three soldiers lost their lives during the confrontation.

“In the course of repelling the attack, we lost three courageous men. My sincere condolences are with the families and loved ones of these great men who have paid the supreme price in the service of our fatherland,” he said.

The governor assured residents that the state government would continue to support the families of the deceased soldiers and would spare no effort in protecting lives and property across the state.

The latest incident comes amid renewed attacks on military formations in parts of the country.

Just days earlier, a colonel and six soldiers were reportedly killed in Borno State after terrorists attacked a military formation in Monguno.

Similarly, on April 8, Brigadier-General Oseni Braimah and three other soldiers were killed in a coordinated terrorist attack in Benisheikh, Borno State.
