Wolves Turn Chicken: Wolverhampton Wanderers Relegated from EPL, Players Almost Commit Emotional Suicide

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been relegated from the English Premier League following a goalless draw between Crystal Palace and West Ham United on Monday night.

The result confirmed Wolves as the first club to suffer relegation this season.

West Ham moved up to 33 points from 33 matches, securing 17th position and remaining outside the relegation zone. Wolves, rooted to the bottom of the table on 17 points, can no longer catch the Hammers even if they win all five of their remaining league fixtures.

The Midlands club will now return to the Championship after an eight-year stay in England’s top flight.

Wolves endured a disastrous campaign, managing just three wins and eight draws in 33 matches. Their struggles began with only two points from their opening 18 games, the worst such start in top-flight English football history.

The club was also hit by the departure of key players including Matheus Cunha, Rayan Aït-Nouri and Rúben Neves, weakening the squad significantly. Defensive frailties further compounded their problems, with the team unable to keep clean sheets during the first half of the season.

Wolves eventually secured their first league win after 20 matches, but their form never recovered. They have suffered 22 defeats so far this campaign.

Head coach Rob Edwards admitted after Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Leeds United that relegation had appeared inevitable, but vowed the club would fight to return to the Premier League at the earliest opportunity.

“It’s obviously been a long time coming, and our situation has been difficult for all of this season, and even seasons before,” Edwards said.

“All I can do is promise them that we’re working extremely hard to make sure that we’re not feeling like this again.”
