Oyo 2027: Opatoki Pledges to Fortify Amotekun, Run Youth-Driven Government, and Consolidate Makinde’s Legacy Under Omituntun 3.0

In a decisive move to consolidate his vision for a safer, prosperous, and youth-inclusive Oyo State, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Otunba Oluseye Oladosu Opatoki, has pledged to strengthen the Oyo State Security Network, codenamed, Amotekun, and guarantee maximum protection of lives and property if elected Governor in the 2027 general elections.

Otunba Oluseye Opatoki made this declaration during a robust roundtable engagement with party loyalists and youth representatives drawn from various local government areas, held at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan.

The interactive session formed part of his strategic consultations anchored on his four cardinal development pillars: Security, Agriculture, Health, and Economic Development.

Responding to pointed questions from youth leaders regarding the prevailing security challenges confronting both Oyo State and the nation at large, the aspirant maintained that security would remain a major focal point of his administration, running concurrently with agricultural transformation, healthcare revitalization, and broad-based economic growth.

He stressed that no meaningful development can occur in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity, hence his resolve to reposition Amotekun with enhanced training, technology, intelligence gathering, and community collaboration to ensure peace across all zones of the state.

Otunba Oluseye Opatoki further emphasized that stakeholder engagement remains paramount to governance, particularly with the youth demographic, whom he described as the engine of development and innovation.

He disclosed that the essence of the Ibadan roundtable was to directly harvest the aspirations, concerns, and policy ideas of Oyo youths ahead of the PDP primaries, noting that his administration would be deliberately youth-driven and inclusive.

“We are gathered today with the vibrant youths of Oyo State to deliberate on what they believe we can achieve together if we are eventually entrusted with the leadership of our dear state.

I have declared my intention, and I assure you that my government will be an inclusive government which will prioritize the youth at all levels,” Opatoki stated.

“The level of development in any state or nation is a direct reflection of how much its youth contribute to governance and productivity.

The largeness of a community or state is determined by the energy, creativity, and participation of its young people. Therefore, priority will be given to youth empowerment, education, digital skills, and entrepreneurship under my leadership,” he added.

While commending the administration of His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE, for its exemplary leadership style, people-centered policies, and transformative projects, Otunba Oluseye Opatoki pledged to build on the outgoing government’s legacy to further position Oyo State among the fastest-growing economies in Nigeria.

He affirmed his commitment to the continuity of the _Omituntun_ governance philosophy that has redefined service delivery in the state.

“We are going to have _Omituntun 3.0_. And by God’s grace, we will have _Omituntun 4.0_, _Omituntun 5.0_, and _Omituntun 6.0_. Governor Makinde’s legacy will not be erased, because we know where the state was and we know where we are now.

His determination, consistency, and wealth of experience have placed Oyo State at the enviable level we occupy today. My duty is to sustain and expand that progress,” he declared to resounding applause from attendees.

In a passionate charge to the electorate, Otunba Oluseye Opatoki urged all eligible residents of Oyo State who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to do so without delay.

He described voting as a civic duty and a constitutional right that enables citizens to choose leaders of their choice and participate fully in the democratic process.

“Everyone should go and pick up their PVC so that they can choose the leadership of their choice. When you do not have the card, others choose for you.

We continue to encourage our people: your PVC is your power. Vote, be voted for, and elect those you believe are perfect to lead you,” Otunba Opatoki advised.

Political observers present at the engagement described the session as strategic and timely, noting that Otunba Oluseye Opatoki’s emphasis on security, youth inclusion, and continuity reflects the prevailing expectations of the Oyo electorate ahead of 2027.

The aspirant reiterated that his blueprint is not built on mere political rhetoric but on a meticulously researched, people-driven agenda designed to deepen good governance and accelerate sustainable development across Oyo State.
