Impeachment Allegations Rock Oyo as PDP PRO Confirms Possible New Platform for Aspirants to Contest 2027 Elections
The Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), through its Public Relations Officer Michael Ogunsina, has raised alarm over an alleged political plot against Governor Seyi Makinde, claiming that powerful figures are working behind the scenes to destabilize the administration.
He alleged that the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja had approached the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Honorable Adebo Ogundoyin to defect to the APC, while also accusing Mrs. Florence Ajimobi of pushing for the governor’s impeachment, heightening political tension in the state.

Reacting to the claims, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Debo Ogundoyin, firmly denied any involvement in such moves, and described the bribery allegations as false and misleading, reaffirming his commitment to the party and governor Seyi Makinde.
Similarly, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, dismissed the allegation that he attempted to Impeach the governor, the monarch said he has no such power.
In the same vein, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, also debunked the accusation linking her to an impeachment plot, describing it as baseless and politically motivated.
Members of the Oyo State House of Assembly equally distanced themselves from the alleged plot, collectively denying any involvement in impeachment plans.
Amid the unfolding controversy, Ogunsina further noted that if the internal crisis within the PDP is not resolved promptly, the party may be forced to explore alternative political options.
He stated that a new platform could be created for its aspirants to contest in future elections, while the party simultaneously pursues legal action in court to address the issues affecting its structure and leadership.
