NYSC Warns Against Night Travel as 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Begins April 22

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has advised prospective corps members to avoid travelling at night, as it released the timetable for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation exercise scheduled to take place nationwide.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the scheme’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, who outlined key dates and important guidelines for participants.

According to the statement, the three-week orientation programme will be conducted simultaneously across all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Registration and camp admission are set to begin on April 22 and will close at midnight on April 24 in all orientation camps across the country. The swearing-in ceremony will also take place on April 24, marking the official commencement of camp activities.

The orientation exercise is expected to run until May 12, after which corps members will be deployed to their respective places of primary assignment.

The NYSC further urged mobilised graduates to make proper travel arrangements and prioritise their safety while heading to their assigned camps.

Reiterating its longstanding advisory, the scheme strongly discouraged night travel. Prospective corps members were advised to break their journeys by 6:00 p.m. and spend the night in a safe and secure location before continuing the next day.

The orientation course remains a mandatory component of the national service programme, designed to prepare Nigerian graduates for the one-year service period while promoting national unity and integration.
