Nuhu Ribadu Attends El-Rufai Mother’s Funeral Prayers in Abuja
The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, was among top dignitaries who attended the funeral prayers of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, at the National Mosque in Abuja on Sunday.
Ribadu was seen arriving at the mosque alongside other mourners, where he exchanged greetings before joining the congregation for the Islamic funeral rites (Janazah prayers).
Also present at the solemn event were former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.
Videos circulating on social media highlighted Ribadu’s presence as he paid his respects and participated in the prayers for the deceased.
Atiku Abubakar also confirmed his attendance in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, offering prayers for the late matriarch and condolences to the El-Rufai family.
Hajiya Umma El-Rufai passed away on Friday in Cairo, Egypt, where she had been receiving treatment for an age-related illness.
Several prominent Nigerians, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, have since paid tribute, praying for the repose of her soul and comfort for the bereaved family.
