Oyo Government Directs Motorists, Traders to Vacate Roads, Return to Iwo Road Bus Terminal
The Oyo State Government has directed all motorists and traders operating along major roads around Iwo Road, Ibadan, to immediately vacate the roads and relocate to the designated Iwo Road Bus Terminal.
The directive was issued through the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), which said the enforcement became necessary following increasing roadside activities that have disrupted traffic flow and public safety along the axis.
The Chairman of OYRTMA, Major Adekoya Adesagba (Rtd), who led an enforcement and inspection visit to the Iwo Road Bus Terminal, observed that some operators had abandoned the government-provided facility.
Major Adesagba warned that continued roadside trading and parking significantly increase the risk of traffic gridlock and road accidents, as they reduce the available space for smooth vehicular movement.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to maintaining order, safety, and efficient traffic management across Ibadan, warning that continued disregard for official directives would not be tolerated.
