Police Arrest Six Suspected Robbers, Recover Phones, Tricycle in Ibadan Raid
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested six suspected members of a robbery syndicate allegedly operating within the Ibadan metropolis, marking a major breakthrough in efforts to curb crime in the state.
The suspects were apprehended during a targeted operation by the Command’s Monitoring Unit following actionable intelligence.
Police, through intelligence reports indicated that the group had been hiding at a hotel in the 7UP/Academy area of Ibadan, prompting a swift response from security operatives.
Acting on the tip-off, officers carried out a coordinated sting operation at the location, leading to the arrest of Kelvin Daniel (21), Idris Ramon (25), Christopher Solomon (35), Mohamed Telim (21), Taored Aderibigbe (30), and Adekunle Tolani (27).
Items recovered from the suspects include 18 mobile phones, one ATM card, a National Identification Number (NIN) card, and a tricycle with registration number OYO SHK 508 QP, believed to have been used in carrying out the alleged crimes.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects have confessed to being part of a syndicate responsible for a series of robberies across Ibadan.
The Police Command stated that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion.
