Oyo Police Rescue Kidnap Victim Unhurt in Igbeti, Intensify Manhunt for Suspects
The Oyo State Police Command has rescued a 30-year-old man abducted in the Igbeti area of the state, following coordinated security operations.
The victim, identified as Alhaji Gede Yusuf of Old Oyo National Park, Dauda Village via Igbeti, was freed unharmed after being held by suspected kidnappers.
According to a statement issued by the Command, the abduction was reported at the Igbeti Divisional Police Headquarters, triggering an immediate response by security operatives.
Intelligence-led bush-combing operations were subsequently launched across identified flashpoints in collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders.
Police said sustained pressure mounted by the joint security team forced the kidnappers to abandon the victim.
He was later rescued unhurt and taken to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment.
Authorities confirmed that he has since been discharged in stable condition.
The Oyo Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, commended the gallantry of police operatives and the effective collaboration among partner agencies and local stakeholders, noting that their collective efforts ensured the safe rescue of the victim.
The Commissioner has directed the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad to conduct a thorough debriefing of the victim as investigations continue.
The Command reiterated its commitment to tracking down, arresting, and prosecuting those responsible, while urging residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.
