Presidency Accuses El-Rufai of Stoking Political Tension, Bent on Destroying Nigerian Government By Creating Unrest in the Country
The Presidency has accused former Nasir El-Rufai of attempting to incite political tension and divert attention from alleged corruption issues in Kaduna State.
In a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, alleged that El-Rufai’s recent actions were driven by ulterior motives.
According to Onanuga, the former governor is seeking to create an atmosphere of fear and unrest in the country in a bid to undermine the Federal Government through what he described as deliberate misinformation.
He further alleged that El-Rufai is attempting to shift public attention away from domestic challenges in Kaduna State, where he is reportedly facing significant corruption allegations.
The Presidency claimed that the former governor is trying to nationalise what it described as personal issues with his home state government in order to portray himself as a victim of persecution.
The statement added that Nigerians are unlikely to support El-Rufai if the matter centers on corruption allegations.
El-Rufai had not issued an official response to the Presidency’s claims as of press time.
