Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings has been reported dead, sparking emotional reactions from colleagues and fans on social media.
The news was announced on Wednesday by Pelumi Olajengbesi, convener of the Coalition of Public Interests Lawyers and Advocates (COPA), who expressed concern over the deaths of young Nigerians.
In a post on Instagram accompanying a photograph of the singer, Olajengbesi appealed for God’s mercy, lamenting what he described as the untimely deaths of young men and women.
“My God! What a life! No, Lord! We plead for Your mercy upon Toluwanisings,” he wrote.
He added, “I am deeply troubled by the deaths of young men and women. This is not God’s plan for us.”
Reacting to the development, gospel comedian Woli Agba called for prayers, expressing hope that the singer could still recover.
“Please hold on. Please don’t conclude. We are trusting God. Please,” Woli Agba wrote in a message shared on his social media page.
Singer Boyebest also expressed faith and optimism in the comments section, writing, “Yes yes yes. Yeah I have faith in God. I do. God you’ll do this one.”
The reactions followed reports of the singer’s alleged death that began circulating on social media, with the development drawing emotional responses from members of the gospel music community.
However, the circumstances surrounding the reported death had not been made public as of the time of filing this report. The claims had also prompted appeals from some colleagues not to give up hope.
Further details about the singer’s condition and the circumstances surrounding the reports were still awaited.
