BREAKING: Heavily Fortified New Nigerian Army 170 Battalion Arrives in Kishi, Oyo State as Residents Jubilate
The newly deployed 170 Infantry Battalion of the Nigerian Army has arrived in Kishi town, in the Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State, amid a joyful reception by residents.
The troops arrived in the town last night and were warmly welcomed by residents, who expressed excitement over the development and hope that the military presence would strengthen security in Kishi and neighbouring communities.
The deployment is part of the new military formations approved for Oyo State by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian Army to strengthen security and address emerging security challenges across the state.
The Oyo State Government had earlier announced the establishment of four new military formations in the state, with Kishi designated to host an infantry battalion.
Other locations expected to benefit from the new military formations include Iseyin, which is to host an artillery regiment battalion; Oyo town, where a brigade and battalion are to be established; and Oriire, which is to receive an additional battalion.
The new military formations are expected to strengthen the operational presence of the Nigerian Army across Oyo State, particularly in the Oke-Ogun axis, where communities have continued to seek improved security.
The arrival of the 170 Infantry Battalion has therefore been welcomed by residents of Kishi, who expressed optimism that the deployment would help deter criminal activities, improve the protection of lives and property, and enhance security across the area.
The deployment marks another development in efforts to strengthen security infrastructure in Oyo State through an increased military presence in strategic locations.
