INEC to Begin Distribution Of 77,015 PVCs Across Oyo Wards From Friday
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of the distribution and collection of 77,015 newly printed Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) across the 351 Registration Areas and Wards in Oyo State.
The exercise, which is part of preparations for the 2027 General Elections, will commence on Friday, October 9, and run for seven days until Thursday, October 15, 2026.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Oyo State, Professor Adeniran Rahmon Tella, disclosed this in a media release on Tuesday, stating that the exercise would take place daily, including weekends, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Tella explained that the exercise would also involve the collection of unclaimed old PVCs that were previously printed for the 2023 General Elections.
He urged members of the public to disregard recent information circulating online suggesting that the Continuous Voter Registration exercise is still ongoing, stressing that the CVR exercise had closed on July 26, 2026.
The REC called on eligible voters and relevant stakeholders to take advantage of the seven-day exercise to collect their PVCs at their respective Registration Areas.
He added that after the expiration of the seven-day distribution period at the Registration Areas, the distribution and collection of PVCs would continue at the 33 INEC Local Government Area offices across the state.
According to him, the same operating hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. would be maintained during the subsequent exercise at the local government level.
Tella said the exercise was targeted at newly registered voters, persons who had lost their PVCs, those who requested transfers from one Polling Unit to another, as well as voters whose PVCs were damaged or defaced during the last Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
The REC further assured the people of Oyo State that the Commission would receive additional batches of the newly printed PVCs for distribution as they become available.
He therefore urged eligible voters to participate in the exercise and ensure they collect their PVCs ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
