‎Governor Makinde Extends Oyo Workers’ Wage Award for 3 Months, Approves Continuous Transportation Subsidy Amid Economic Hardship

‎Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has announced the extension of the wage award for state workers by another three months, while assuring civil servants that the transportation subsidy assistance introduced by his administration to cushion economic hardship will continue.
‎
‎Makinde made the announcement on Friday shortly after resuming official duties at the Governor’s Office, Agodi, Ibadan, following his annual leave, during which his deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal, served as Acting Governor.
‎
‎Addressing civil servants and public servants who welcomed him back to office, the governor said the decision to extend the wage award was necessitated by the prevailing economic challenges confronting workers and residents of the state.
‎
‎The governor said his administration remained concerned about the welfare of workers, particularly against the backdrop of rising costs and the pressure on household incomes, hence the need to sustain the transportation subsidy assistance introduced by his administration for workers in the state.
‎
‎The governor also used the occasion to highlight his administration’s adherence to constitutional provisions, particularly the transfer of power to his deputy during his absence.
‎
‎Makinde challenged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to adopt the same approach whenever he is outside the country or otherwise unavailable to personally perform the functions of his office.
