‎
‎With the countdown to the 2027 general elections underway, residents of Ibadan have urged political candidates to prioritise insecurity, the rising cost of living, healthcare and education, calling for clear plans to address the country’s pressing challenges.
‎
‎Speaking with newsmen, cross-section of residents expressed concern over the growing cases of kidnapping and other security threats, insisting that Nigerians should be able to travel and go about their daily activities without fear.
‎
‎The residents called on candidates to propose practical measures to make fuel more affordable, improve healthcare delivery and strengthen the education system.
‎
‎They maintained that security must be a top priority, noting that a safe environment is essential for economic activities to thrive and for meaningful development to take place across other sectors.
‎
‎The residents also stressed that election campaigns should focus on policy proposals and workable solutions rather than personal attacks, urging politicians to explain how they intend to address the challenges confronting citizens.
‎
‎They further urged candidates at both state and national levels to make their manifestos public and demonstrate a commitment to fulfilling their campaign promises if elected.
‎
‎As preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum, the residents said the outcome of the polls would depend largely on how well candidates connect their campaign promises to the everyday realities of Nigerians.
