Oyo Accord Warns Impostors Against Parading Themselves As Party Officials
The Oyo State Working Committee of the Accord Party has warned individuals allegedly parading themselves as party officials in the state to desist from impersonation, cautioning that failure to comply could attract legal action.
The party leadership, under the chairmanship of Prince Kolade Ojo, and the State Secretary, Hon. Olayinka Dairo, urged government institutions, security agencies, party supporters and other stakeholders to disregard individuals allegedly presenting themselves as authorised state officials of the party.
In a disclaimer jointly signed by Ojo and Dairo and issued in Ibadan, the party specifically warned Mr. Lukman Adeyanju and Mr. Badru Oriyomi, alongside others allegedly involved in similar activities, to stop parading themselves as the state Vice Chairman and Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the party.
The disclaimer stated that the party had observed with serious concern what it described as attempts by the individuals to assume official positions without authorisation, adding that those involved had been declared persona non grata by the party leadership.
The Accord leadership reaffirmed that Prince Kolade Ojo remains the party’s legally recognised state chairman. It also stated that the late Alhaji Surajudeen Agunbiade, who was elected as state Vice Chairman during the party’s last congress, had not been replaced.
The statement further identified Mr. Olayiwola Bayonle as the authentic Public Relations Officer of the Accord Party in Oyo State.
Describing the alleged impersonation as unauthorised, the party leadership accused Adeyanju, Oriyomi and others of acting as political interlopers, warning stakeholders against recognising them as representatives of the party.
The leadership also cautioned that any dealings or transactions undertaken with the individuals or other persons allegedly posing as party officials could result in legal action, particularly where such dealings involve unauthorised representations made in the party’s name.
Ojo and Dairo said the disclaimer was issued in the interest of transparency, accountability, peace and the protection of the party’s institutional integrity.
They further maintained that any correspondence, representation or undertaking purportedly made by the individuals in an official capacity on behalf of the party should be regarded as null and void.
The party leadership urged members, supporters, government institutions, security agencies and the general public to take note of the disclaimer and be guided accordingly in their dealings with individuals claiming to hold official positions within the Accord Party in Oyo State.
