Super Story: Governor Makinde Denies Oyo Received ₦50 Billion From FG For Ibadan Airport Upgrade
Oyo State Governor, engineer Seyi Makinde has dismissed as false a claim by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, that the Federal Government gave the state ₦50 billion for the reconstruction and upgrade of Ibadan Airport.
Governor Makinde debunked the information in Katsina on Tuesday, during his Presidential campaign Town hall meeting.
He said the Federal Government’s approval for the project specifically stipulated that it would be executed at no cost to the Federal Government, with Oyo State funding the entire upgrade.
Makinde maintained that every component of the Airport Upgrade had been funded by the state government alone.
The governor described Wike’s claim as fake news, saying the Oyo Government remained committed to transparency and accountability and would not allow misinformation to distort public understanding of the airport project’s financing.
