INEC Fixes September 19 for By Elections in Four States

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed September 19, 2026, for the conduct of five by elections across four states.

The elections will hold in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states and will cover one federal constituency and four state constituencies.

INEC’s Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Tunde Oketola, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.

According to him, the federal constituency election will take place in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State.

The four state constituency elections will be conducted in Disina and Sakwa constituencies in Bauchi State, Udu Constituency in Delta State and Dawakin Kudu Constituency in Kano State.

The commission is expected to conduct the elections in accordance with its established electoral guidelines and procedures.

The September 19 polls will provide an opportunity for voters in the affected constituencies to elect representatives to fill the vacant seats.
