IKEDC Worker Rescued After Suffering Electric Shock on Lagos Power Pole

An official of Ikeja Electric Plc has been rescued after suffering an electric shock while reportedly carrying out repair work on a power pole around Gbagada Bus Stop in Lagos State.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday, caused panic among commuters and onlookers as the worker became stranded on an elevated ladder attached to the power pole.

Two fellow IKEDC field workers reportedly attempted to safely bring the affected technician down after he was trapped on the ladder, with his head facing downward.

An eyewitness at the scene confirmed that the worker had suffered an electric shock and assured anxious bystanders that he was alive.

“This is Gbagada Bus Stop. This incident just happened now. Light just shocked the guy; he is a NEPA guy. Now they’re trying to bring him down; he’s not dead,” the eyewitness said.

The incident attracted a crowd of anxious onlookers who gathered around the base of the utility pole as the rescue operation continued.

When contacted, the Head of Corporate Communications at Ikeja Electric, Kingsley Okotie, confirmed that the worker survived and was receiving medical attention.

“He is being treated. He is recuperating in hospital. All necessary safety protocols are being put in place to ensure it does not happen again,” Okotie said.
