SAD: Veteran Actor, Ogogo’s Cancer Enters Last Stage, Daughters Seek Alternative to Medical Care as Senator Yayi Foots Hospital Bills
Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actor, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is reportedly battling advanced-stage cancer, with his daughters appealing for alternative medical intervention after the hospital managing his condition indicated that it could no longer continue his treatment.
The actor’s daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, disclosed the development in an emotional video appeal shared on social media, where they sought urgent assistance from medical experts, specialist hospitals and individuals with credible information on advanced cancer treatment.
According to the daughters, the veteran actor is currently in severe pain, while the family is making efforts to secure further medical intervention following the hospital’s position on his treatment.
They said the hospital had indicated that it could no longer proceed with administering chemotherapy, prompting the family to urgently explore other options, including specialised cancer centres and other medically credible forms of care.
The family, however, stressed that it was not seeking financial donations or crowdfunding from members of the public, noting that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has been footing Ogogo’s medical bills, alongside other close associates who have supported the actor’s treatment.
The daughters expressed appreciation to Senator Yayi and the actor’s other benefactors for their financial commitment to his medical care, saying the immediate need was not money but access to credible medical expertise and possible treatment options.
Instead, the family is seeking recommendations for reputable specialist hospitals, international oncology centres and qualified experts who may be able to provide further treatment or appropriate care for Ogogo’s condition.
They also appealed to members of the public with verified medical leads to contact them directly through their official social media platforms, stressing the importance of obtaining credible and safe treatment options rather than relying on unverified remedies.
The appeal has continued to generate concern among fans, colleagues and admirers of the veteran actor, with calls for urgent intervention and prayers for his recovery as the family searches for further medical options.
