NPFL Clubs Converge On Ibadan For AGM, 2026/27 Fixtures Draw
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Ibadan, Oyo State, today, August 7, with the much anticipated draw for the 2026/27 season fixtures expected to be one of the major highlights of the meeting.
The AGM, which serves as the league’s highest decision making forum, will bring together the NPFL Board and representatives of the 20 participating clubs to review the 2025/26 season and deliberate on key issues ahead of the new campaign.
A major focus of the meeting will be the unveiling of the fixtures for the 2026/27 NPFL season, following the league’s earlier announcement of the commencement date for the new campaign.
Under the leadership of NPFL Chairman, Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, the domestic top flight has maintained a relatively stable football calendar over the past four seasons, with campaigns commencing in August and concluding in May.
Elegbeleye described the establishment of a consistent league calendar as one of the major achievements of the current NPFL administration.
“Our modest achievement includes putting the NPFL on a stable calendar since the 2023/24 season. It is a major shift from the era when no one knew when the season would end,” he said.
The NPFL chairman also highlighted improvements in the league’s television coverage, saying significant progress had been made towards increasing the visibility and commercial appeal of the competition.
“We have succeeded to a large extent in securing live broadcast coverage of the league, although there is still much more work to do,” Elegbeleye added.
During the AGM, the NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, is expected to present the league’s technical and operational report, while GTI Asset Management will present the financial report.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Professor Theophilus Ogunlesi Events Hall, opposite the University College Hospital, Ibadan, where club representatives and league officials are expected to deliberate on issues concerning the new season.
The AGM is expected to set the tone for the 2026/27 campaign as the 20 NPFL clubs prepare for another season of domestic top flight football.
