Oyo Government Releases 1,535 Promotion Letters to Local Government Workers Across 33 Councils

The Oyo State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) has released 1,535 promotion letters to workers across the state’s 33 local government councils as part of the implementation of the 2025 promotion exercise. The promotion, which covers officers on Grade Levels 06 to 17, cuts across the Commission and seven key departments within the local government service.

The beneficiaries include staff in the Administration and General Services, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics, Education and Social Services, Environmental Health Services, Finance and Supplies, as well as Works, Housing, Lands and Survey departments. Education and Social Services recorded the highest number of beneficiaries with 431 officers, followed by Works, Housing, Lands and Survey with 360, Finance and Supplies with 315, Administration and General Services with 288, Agriculture and Natural Resources with 57, Environmental Health Services with 44, and Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics with 40.

Presenting the promotion letters on behalf of the Commission, its Chairman, Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole, said the exercise reflects Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to workers’ welfare, motivation and career progression. He described the promotion as evidence of the administration’s resolve to build a professional, efficient and highly motivated local government workforce capable of delivering quality service at the grassroots.

“This administration under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde understands that a motivated workforce is the engine room of good governance. The prompt release of these promotion letters is in line with his resolve to ensure that no civil servant is stagnated and that hard work is duly recognised and rewarded,” Akinwole said.

He congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to see the promotion as a reward for diligence and a call to greater responsibility, while representatives of the promoted workers expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde and the Commission, describing the exercise as a morale booster that would inspire improved productivity across the local government service.
