INEC to Begin Display of Preliminary Voters Register in Oyo From August 4

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will commence the display of the Preliminary Register of Voters for claims and objections across all its 33 Local Government Area offices in Oyo State from Tuesday, August 4, to Monday, August 10, 2026, as part of preparations for the 2027 General Election.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Oyo State, Prof. Rahman Adeniran Tella, disclosed this in a media release issued on Friday, stating that the exercise will run daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. He said the exercise is intended to enable every registered voter to verify that their names are correctly captured on the voters register.

According to the commission, the display exercise will also provide an opportunity for registered voters to verify the accuracy of their personal and biometric details, correct errors where necessary, apply for transfer of registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), update personal information, and raise objections to the inclusion of deceased persons, underage registrants or non Nigerian citizens in the register.

Prof. Tella urged all eligible voters in the state to take full advantage of the exercise to help the commission maintain a credible and accurate register of voters.

He added that all claims and objections must be submitted within the stipulated period, noting that affected persons would be required to appear physically at their designated INEC Local Government Area offices across the state.
