WAFCON: Money Disappears from Super Falcons’ Hotel Rooms in Morocco
Several players of Nigeria’s Super Falcons have reportedly raised concerns after cash allegedly disappeared from their hotel rooms in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The players claimed that money was taken from their wallets while they were away from their rooms at the Marriott Hotel, where the team is camped as part of its preparations for the continental tournament.
Among those reportedly affected are Esther Okoronkwo, who allegedly lost $700; team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, $200; Osinachi Ohale, $100; Joy Omewa, $120; and Halimatu Ayinde, $100. The total amount said to be missing is $1,220.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has yet to issue an official statement on the incident or confirm whether an investigation has been launched.
The Super Falcons are currently in Casablanca for the final phase of their preparations before travelling to Rabat for their opening Group C fixture against Malawi. Nigeria, the defending champions, will also face Zambia and Egypt in the group stage as head coach Justine Madugu intensifies preparations for the competition.
