Oyo Executive Council Approves ₦3 Billion Cassava Loan, €55 Million Healthcare Project, ₦200 Million Grant for 3SC
The Oyo State Executive Council has approved an interest-free ₦3 billion strategic intervention loan for an indigenous cassava processing factory in Ado-Awaye.
Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, disclosed this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Ibadan on Thursday.
According to the statement, the project is expected to benefit more than 25,000 farmers, create jobs and reinforce Oyo State’s status as one of Nigeria’s leading cassava-producing states.
Similarly, the Council approved an additional ₦2.46 billion equity investment in Oyo Sugar and Derivatives Industries Limited to facilitate the commencement of commercial operations at the sugar processing factory in Iseyin.
The Council also approved the construction of the 4-kilometre Idi-Igba/Akinmorin Road in Ilora at a cost of ₦2.9 billion, citing its expected socio-economic benefits to residents and businesses in the area.
The Executive Council equally approved the implementation of a comprehensive healthcare initiative to be financed through a €55 million French loan backed by the Federal Government.
The project will fund the construction and equipping of hospitals, including a Cardiac Centre, Emergency and Maternity Centres, Intensive Care Units, operating theatres, 39 ambulances, 10 dental centres and 200 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state.
In the sports sector, the Council approved an initial ₦200 million take-off grant for Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) to support the Ibadan-based club’s campaign for continental success after a 27-year wait.
