‎The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers and rescued a five-year-old girl, Fikayo Gbemiga, who was abducted from her parents’ residence in the Iyana Offa area of Ibadan.

‎The Command said the breakthrough followed a sustained intelligence-led operation by operatives of its Anti-Kidnapping Squad, who deployed technology and other investigative tools to trace the suspects’ hideout, rescue the victim, provide her with immediate medical attention and arrest the suspects.

‎According to the Police, the child was abducted on July 3, 2026, prompting an intensive investigation which culminated in the arrest of the principal suspects on July 11, 2026, at about 10:30 p.m. at their hideout in the Mojoyin Molade area of Iwo Road, Ibadan.

‎Further investigations revealed that the suspects had allegedly received a ransom payment of ₦1 million from the victim’s family at Gbongan in Osun State on July 8, 2026, during negotiations for the child’s release.

‎Police said efforts were ongoing to recover the ransom and apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who remain at large.
