I’m Not Stubborn, I’m a Man of Principle: Kuso Tells APM Leaders, Seeks Support for Ibarapa East Chairmanship Ticket
Chairmanship ticket of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ibarapa East Local Government gathered momentum as one of the leading aspirants, Hon. Abdul Akeem Akintola Kuso, appealed to party leaders and members to entrust him with the party’s mandate, promising to deliver responsible, people-oriented and inclusive governance.
Kuso made the appeal while addressing party stakeholders, where he urged them to disregard what he described as a deliberate campaign of misinformation against his personality.
The chairmanship hopeful said those branding him as stubborn and strong-headed had misunderstood his unwavering commitment to discipline, accountability and justice.
“I have heard people describe me as stubborn, but I make no apology for standing on the side of truth. I believe in discipline, due process and fairness. I will never support cheating, and I will never allow anyone to cheat me or the people I represent,” he declared.
The aspirant maintained that beyond his firm principles lies a compassionate and generous personality known to many who have interacted closely with him over the years.
According to him, his passion for humanity and community development has continued to define his relationship with people across Ibarapa East.
“Those who know me closely understand that I have a large heart. I am accessible, generous and always ready to support people whenever the need arises. Leadership, to me, is about service and improving lives,” he said.
Kuso assured party members that, if elected, he would operate an administration anchored on inclusiveness, transparency and grassroots participation, saying no group or individual would be sidelined.
He pledged to maintain an open-door policy that would encourage regular consultation with traditional rulers, youths, women, elders, professionals and other critical stakeholders in the council.
“I believe good governance begins with listening. Every opinion matters. Every community deserves attention. My administration will carry everyone along because development thrives where there is unity and collective responsibility,” he added.
The APM aspirant also expressed confidence that Ibarapa East possesses enormous potential for economic growth, infrastructure development and youth empowerment, stressing that visionary leadership is needed to unlock those opportunities.
He therefore appealed to party leaders, delegates and supporters to give him the opportunity to fly the party’s flag in the 2026 local government election, assuring them that he would justify their confidence with honesty, dedication and measurable performance.
Kuso emphasized that his aspiration was inspired neither by personal enrichment nor political influence but by an overwhelming desire to answer the call of the people and accelerate the long-awaited transformation of Ibarapa East.
“I have achieved personal fulfillment. I am not seeking this office because of money or the privileges attached to government. I am in this race because my people deserve better leadership, and I am prepared to make the sacrifices necessary to move Ibarapa East to greater heights,” he said.
He concluded by urging members of the APM to remain united and focused ahead of the party’s primaries, expressing confidence that with the support of leaders and the electorate, the party would emerge victorious and usher in a new era of development in Ibarapa East Local Government.
