Hijrah 1448AH: Let Us Pray for Nigeria and Stand With Families of Abducted Oriire Children — Niyi Aborisade
Oyo State governorship hopeful for the 2027 election, Barrister Chief Niyi Aborisade (BANA), has urged Nigerians to make the Islamic New Year a period of fervent prayers for peace, security and national rebirth, saying the country needs divine intervention now more than ever.
Aborisade made the appeal in a message marking Hijrah 1448AH, congratulating Muslims in Oyo State, across Nigeria and around the world on witnessing the beginning of another Islamic calendar year.
He said Hijrah is not merely a change of date but a powerful reminder of the values of sacrifice, perseverance, faith and hope demonstrated by Prophet Muhammad (SAW) during his migration from Makkah to Madinah.
According to him, Nigeria is facing numerous challenges ranging from insecurity and economic hardship to youth unemployment and declining public trust in institutions, making it imperative for citizens to seek God’s guidance and mercy.
“The lessons of Hijrah teach us that no situation is beyond redemption. With faith, unity and commitment to justice, societies can overcome their challenges and emerge stronger. This is the message Nigerians must embrace today,” Aborisade stated.
The legal practitioner expressed deep concern over the abduction of school-age children in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the development as a tragic reminder of the security challenges confronting many communities.
He noted that while security agencies continue their efforts, prayers remain essential for the safe return of the victims.
“Our hearts go out to the parents and families of these innocent children. Their pain is our pain. Their tears are our tears. As we celebrate Hijrah, let every mosque, every home and every gathering remember these children in prayer and ask Almighty Allah to bring them back safely.”
Aborisade called on community leaders, religious organizations and well-meaning Nigerians to support affected families emotionally and spiritually during the difficult period.
He also urged governments at all levels to strengthen intelligence gathering, improve community policing initiatives and invest more resources in protecting schools and vulnerable communities.
The governorship hopeful said Oyo State’s future depends on creating an environment where children can learn without fear and families can pursue their livelihoods in safety.
“Security is not merely a government responsibility; it is a collective obligation. We must all become partners in safeguarding our communities through vigilance, cooperation and mutual support.”
Aborisade further appealed to Nigerians not to lose hope despite current difficulties, insisting that the country’s best days are still ahead.
He said the resilience of Nigerians remains one of the nation’s greatest strengths and expressed confidence that unity, good leadership and collective determination would help overcome present challenges.
“As we begin Hijrah 1448AH, let us renew our faith in Allah, renew our commitment to one another and renew our determination to build a safer, fairer and more prosperous Nigeria.”
He offered special prayers for the victims of insecurity across the country, for struggling families facing economic hardship and for leaders entrusted with the responsibility of governance.
“May Allah grant freedom to the abducted children of Oriire. May He comfort their families, protect our communities, bless Oyo State with peace and guide Nigeria towards stability, justice and prosperity. Ameen.”
For many Muslims, Hijrah symbolizes a new beginning a time to reflect on the past, strengthen faith and embrace the opportunities of a new year with hope and optimism.
As Muslims usher in 1448AH, Aborisade’s message serves as a reminder that beyond celebration lies a collective responsibility to pray for the nation and support one another in difficult times.
