‎Oyo Government Declares Tuesday Work Free Day to Commemorate Hijrah 1448

‎The Oyo State Government has declared Tuesday ,16th June 2026 a work-free day to commemorate and celebrate the new Islamic calendar year, Hijrah 1448AH.

‎In a press release signed by the Honorable Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the State Government said it recognizes the importance of the Hijrah in the lives of Muslim brothers and sisters.

‎The Commissioner said that the Hijrah marks the migration of the Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina in 622AD, and is considered a significant event in Islamic history.

‎He noted that as a gesture of respect and solidarity with the Muslim community, the Oyo State government has declared tomorrow, Tuesday 16th June 2026 a work-free day in the state.

‎Oyelade then urged all residents to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in the state and the country as a whole.
